Why you shouldn’t trust Uncle Bob to shoot your wedding

Let me make it clear that I don’t have anything against your Uncle Bob. I’m sure he’s a stand-up guy. I just think that there is a real danger in entrusting one of the most important tasks for your wedding day to a relative. Especially when he’s just a keen amateur photographer.

There seems to be an accepted view amongst many people that all you need to photograph a wedding successfully is a digital SLR and lots of enthusiasm. Nothing could be further from the truth. Let me ask you this- would you ask a friend who knows nothing about maintaining or fixing automobiles to repair your car, simply because he owns a tool box? It’s highly unlikely.  Well the same applies to wedding photography.

Shooting a wedding requires a lot of skill, expertise and experience. Not only do you need to understand how to handle and manipulate a whole range of lighting conditions, you also need to know how to direct group shots, pose couples and (most importantly) elicit emotional responses from people. It’s a difficult job that requires you to work to quite difficult time pressures. It’s not something that your buddy or relative can ‘have a go at’.

If I sound a little harsh here, I do apologise. It’s just that I feel passionately about this subject. I have heard too many stories of couples asking relatives to shoot their wedding in order to save money, only to then seriously regret their decision afterwards.

So what should you do if you are seriously restricted by your budget? Well I would suggest one of two things. Either ask an established wedding photographer if they could cut the number of hours coverage they provide you (in order to get a lower price) or alternatively find a talented but relatively inexperienced professional photographer to shoot your wedding. If you are creative, do your research and perhaps ‘jiggle’ your budget around I’m confident that you can find a way of balancing your wedding budget whilst still ensuring that you get a photographer that your wedding day deserves.

LDS Baptism Pictures October 2014

Last night I had the opportunity to take my cousin's little girl to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple for pictures for her Baptism that is coming up. This was my first experience with Baptism pictures, I really did enjoy myself though. Aleah was brave enough to come out and let me pose her in the cold.

Top Video Production Companies

When you think of life at this moment, video is everywhere. Think about it. More than ever, we are relying on video to get our message across.

It’s not just big business that use professional videographers anymore. Local business owners are now taking advantage of freelance videographers to produce cinematic quality videos. Whether it be for training videos, video testimonials, conferences, or other events, professional videographers are more in demand than ever before.

Most every small business has a website nowadays, and if you don’t, you NEED one, but a simple website won’t do anymore, you need engaging video content to keep your clients interested in YOU and sell more of your products.

Ryan Hender Films is a professional video production company that produces top notch videos. From tutorial videos and promotional pieces, to music videos and youtube videos. Think of the last engaging video that you watched. Did it suck you in? Were you interested? Did it make YOU want what they had to sell?

It is said that word of mouth advertising is more effective than tv advertising. Let me repeat it, word of mouth advertising is more effective than TV. Companies have huge budgets for TV advertising annually, and you’re saying that TV is less effective than word of mouth!

We also bring an expertise in advertising and marketing to the table, with the ability to help with scripting, directing, lighting, and everything in between.

We have an artistic eye that will capture the footage in a unique way that will improve the production value of your piece. We then edit your piece using professional editing equipment to ensure the best in the finished product.

Wedding Photography - 5 Tips and Tricks for Stunning Photos

When it comes to matrimonial photos, there is very little room for error. Everyone wants high-quality pictures, and the pressure is always on photographers to capture a perfect setting that newlyweds will cherish forever.

5 Wedding Photography Tips and Tricks

Ask the Bride and Groom for Favorite Photos - Ask the bride and groom to give you a list of two or three must-have photos in advance. These could include an entire family portrait, cutting the cake, walking down the aisle, etc. You will naturally probably take these shots

Get Enough Lighting - Overexposure can instantly ruin a photo and not having enough light is equally harmful. Anyone can make photos look better by taking shots that have enough natural lighting. So, during any outdoor settings with the bride and groom, take advantage of natural light and your surroundings.

Capture the Smallest Details - There is some extensive planning that goes into a wedding. That includes down to the bouquet of flowers, special gift wrapping, the intricate details of the bride's gown, and more. You should capture close-ups of these items, too. They are an intricate part of the wedding, too.

Make Digital Edits - You can edit many of the photos that you make with your digital camera. You can make some good photos look great, and turn others you wanted to delete into shots that are worth saving. Of course, there is Photoshop and Lightroom, as well as other commercial editing programs that can accomplish this.

Reduce Wedding Photographer Costs - No one in their right mind is going to have a wedding without a professional photographer. However, some people might not have the money to pay for an all-day event. To reduce costs considerably, hire your wedding photographer for the ceremony and an hour before and after. This should get most of the photos that you need while at the same time cutting costs.

Wedding photography is a fine art. You must practice to get better at it. Also, if you better prepare, you will reduce stress and lower the chances of anything bad happening. Remember about Murphy's Law, "If something can go wrong, it will." If you prepare yourself, you will always have better results.

Why Choose Bespoke Wedding Stationery?

When you’re choosing your wedding stationery, you could opt to go for a generic design. But why would you do that when you can get something beautiful that has been tailor-made to your specifications. After all, many people keep their invitations as mementoes of the day, and they will be much more special if they reflect something of your personality and that of your partner. There are plenty of bespoke wedding stationers out there and many of them can offer surprisingly competitive prices.

So why should you choose to go down this route? Well, for one thing getting a person to design your stationery exactly the way you want it means it is entirely personal to you. Nobody else will have the same invitations you have had and that’s just one more thing to make your wedding day unique. All the colours, themes, materials and so on will match your requirements. If you choose mass-produced invitations then you will have to accept that this will not be the case. You may want something very ‘arty’, or you may want it to reflect your hobbies. You could also bear in mind here that if sustainability is very important to you, many high end stationers work with only eco-friendly materials.

It also means that you can choose to include photos of yourself or your partner – or indeed anything else that’s significant to you as a couple. If you want to, it gives you the chance to be quirky and create something really memorable for your guests. It can be worth spending a little more money for this. You also get a great choice as the images and invitations themselves can be pretty much any size you want them to be.

Also, bear in mind that if you use a bespoke wedding stationer for your invitations you will get a really professional lay-out – not something that looks like it could have been knocked up on a home computer. You should expect to be offered a few consultations so you can go through any ideas you have and come up with a concept that works. And the cost doesn’t have to be astronomical – a stationer like this will usually be able to work with most budgets and you don’t have to go for the most expensive materials.

If all of this has convinced you, the next thing to do is go about finding a good stationer. It’s worth taking your time finding just the right one. Begin by going around all the companies in your area and asking to see examples of their work. This will give you some idea of the kind of skills they have and the kinds of clients they normally work with. Also, if you already have any materials or design ideas in mind this will give you the chance to check if they can even provide that for you. Otherwise you will need to look elsewhere.

It’s also important to find out what kind of turnaround time they will offer you. Obviously you should be choosing your stationer well in advance anyway, but it may be that it still takes you a while to decide on just the right design. You need to be sure that they can still get the invitations out to you in time. Remember that this has to leave a window for people to RSVP so you can then get on with working out how many people to cater for and so on. It’s surprising how many people don’t ask this question and don’t leave themselves enough time. Be very clear about what your deadline is.

It is also wise, before you settle on a company to work with, to find out who their suppliers are. There are two reasons for this: the first is that there are less likely to be hold-ups because of late deliveries if they have solid, long-term suppliers relationships. The second is that if there are any last-minute changes to be made, it is more likely these can be done before the print run is started if there are good lines of communication open. Finally, don’t be afraid to haggle for discounts by pointing out that your orders is particularly large, that you can recommend them to other people or by suggesting you may go to another firm in the area.

Summary: To make their wedding day extra-special, many people go for bespoke invitations. This article looks at why you should consider finding a bespoke wedding stationer, and how to go about it.
